The theme of the conference is \”Blue Economy Helps Beautiful Hainan\”.
Secretary of the Hainan Provincial Party Committee Feng Fei, Governor Liu Xiaoming, Vice Minister of the Ministry of Ecology and Environment and Secretary-General of the CCICED Zhao Yingmin, Deputy Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Program and Assistant Secretary-General of the United Nations Murema attended the meeting and delivered speeches.
The meeting pointed out that since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, under the scientific guidance of Xi Jinping’s ecological civilization thought, China has made remarkable achievements in ecological environmental protection and sustainable development.
At present, China\’s economic and social development has entered a stage of high-quality development that accelerates greening and low-carbonization. It must accelerate the construction of beautiful bays, enhance the diversity, stability and sustainability of marine ecosystems, promote the green and low-carbon development of the marine economy, and deeply participate in the global ocean. Environmental governance and other measures will continue to promote the construction of marine ecological civilization.
The meeting stated that as an international free trade port, a national ecological civilization pilot zone and a national low-carbon pilot province, Hainan adheres to the establishment of an ecological province and has made positive progress in the construction of ecological civilization.
The Ministry of Ecology and Environment and CCICED will continue to support Hainan in accelerating the green and low-carbon transformation of its development model, continue to improve the quality of the ecological environment, strive to build a first-class ecological, green and low-carbon free trade port, and write a beautiful China in the realization of high-quality development to build Hainan Chapter.
This meeting is an important practice and attempt by CCICED to leverage its advantages in international intellectual resources to support local green and low-carbon development.
Representatives at the meeting discussed topics such as sustainable blue economy supporting the dual carbon goals, challenges and innovations in coastal climate-resilient city construction, promoting the implementation of the \”Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework\” and protecting marine biodiversity.
More than 200 people attended the meeting, including Chinese and foreign members of the CCICED, specially invited consultants, partner representatives, Chinese and foreign experts, and representatives of relevant departments in Hainan Province.
